Carpathian Recovery Center

About the Project

The Carpathian Recovery Center is a God-sized vision to build a Christ-centered recovery and rehabilitation center in the Carpathian Mountains of western Ukraine. Designed to serve the families of active-duty military personnel, fallen heroes, those missing in action, prisoners of war, veterans, medical workers, rescue personnel, chaplains, and volunteers, the center will provide a place of healing, hope, and restoration. Construction began in May 2026, with the center expected to open in 2028.

The heart of this project is to create a safe and welcoming environment where the love of Christ is tangibly demonstrated. Through compassionate care and the hope of the Gospel, individuals and families affected by the war will receive physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support as they begin the journey toward healing and renewed hope.

Project Overview

Ukraine’s Veteran Crisis

Ukraine's war will eventually end, but the need to heal veterans and their families will last for generations. With more than one million veterans already affected—and millions more expected—the Carpathian Recovery Center will provide long-term emotional, relational, and spiritual healing.

The Ministry Has Been Proven

For more than a decade, our chaplaincy team has helped veterans and their families heal from the wounds of war. Now we are building a permanent home where this life-changing ministry can serve year-round.

Whole Family Healing

When war impacts a soldier, the whole family is affected. The Carpathian Recovery Center helps restore veterans, marriages, children, and families through counseling, mentoring, and ongoing support.

The Gospel-Centered Distinction

True healing goes beyond physical recovery. At the Carpathian Recovery Center, veterans and their families will find hope, restoration, and the transforming love of Jesus Christ

High Impact-per-Dollar

A single center can help more than 2,000 people each year find healing and hope. More than a building, the Carpathian Recovery Center is a model that can be replicated across Ukraine to serve thousands more veterans and families. This building is just the first.

Construction Has Already Started

The Carpathian Recovery Center is no longer just a dream. With property secured and construction underway, now is the opportunity to help complete a place of healing and hope for thousands of veterans and families.

How is GCE Involved?

The vision for the Carpathian Recovery Center was born through the ministry of the NGO “Chaplaincy Service Big Heart,” founded by GCE partner Pastor and Chaplain Misha Dubovyk and his family. Since the beginning of the war, Misha and his team have faithfully served wounded veterans, military families, and those impacted by the ongoing conflict—offering practical care, spiritual encouragement, and the hope of the Gospel.

Through the generosity and partnership of Canadian supporters, the ministry was able to acquire a secluded piece of land in the Carpathian Mountains, creating a foundation for this future place of healing and restoration.

International Networx is leading the construction of the recovery center and helping mobilize mission teams to participate in this important work. Visit their website to learn more about how you can get involved and serve alongside this ministry.

Healing the Hidden Wounds of War

For more than a decade, Chaplaincy Service “Big Heart” has faithfully served wounded veterans, military families, and those impacted by the war in Ukraine, providing compassionate care, spiritual encouragement, and a place to find healing, reconciliation, and renewed purpose through Christ.

Building on this foundation, the Carpathian Recovery Center will create a Christ-centered place of restoration in the Carpathian Mountains of western Ukraine. Through year-round recovery programs that include counseling, mentoring, community, outdoor therapy, family restoration, and the hope of the Gospel, the center will serve thousands of veterans and families carrying the hidden wounds of war.

The opportunity before us is to help complete this God-sized vision. With land secured and construction underway, partners can help create a lasting place of healing where lives and families are restored through the love of Christ for generations to come.

We invite you to be a vital part of helping restore lives and families through Christ.
